We were delighted to welcome everyone to our first recruitment evening.
It was a great opportunity to talk to people about our exciting plans and give everyone an insight about what it will be like working at the school.
We were able to announce to the audience our new name – The Compass School – and introduce our new Deputy Headteacher, Beth McKenzie.
We also spoke about our STAR values – Success, Teamwork, Aspiration, Resilience – as well as our vision and curriculum, both classroom and wellbeing.
Catharine Wensley, Headteacher, said: “It was great to welcome so many people to our recruitment evening and discuss with them our plans for The Compass School.
“While we will have a relatively small school team, staff will be very well supported due to us being part of the Unity Schools Partnership.
“It is now about growing our team. At the heart of everything we will be doing is the children and the chance to make a big difference to their lives.
“I would like to thank everyone who attended and also St Edward’s Academy for hosting the evening.
“I’m really looking forward to welcoming children and families and it is very exciting to think we will be meeting our first children after Easter.
Tim Coulson, Chief Executive of Unity Schools Partnership, of which we are a member school, also gave an overview of the trust and how it will support The Compass School as well as its staff, students and families.
The Compass School is the third brand new special school in the trust – following the Sir Bobby Robson School in Ipswich and the Sir Peter Hall School in Bury St Edmunds. The trust also has the Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ Churchill School in Haverhill, Suffolk.
